Developing and digital printing

At the moment I am working on my koda traces for two designs, whilst printing two others. Koda traces are really time consuming so I'm glad I've only decided to do two colours for this print below. I can't wait to get back in that print room next week.

This was my first time digitally printing onto fabric so it was quite exciting seeing how it all worked. I'm really pleased with the outcome of my prints too.

Another day, another length

On Wednesday I printed my second wallpaper length. A few things went wrong in the process so I'm glad that I had a full day to really work on it as I had to start it again. But after a lot of confusion with measuring and screens, it paid off and I am really pleased with the outcome.

Back in the print room

For the past few weeks I've been back in the print room developing my designs into wallpaper repeats. I love the screen printing process and really enjoy this part of my course but it's very time consuming, what with having the coat, expose and strip screens so I have to make sure I plan my time well.

First of all, I printed samples so I could decide on a final colour palette for my length.

After a few days of sampling, I was then able to go on to do my final length. I spent hours preparing the table and my screen and measuring my repeat before I was even able to print but I'm pretty happy with the outcome and it's now on to the next one!

Major Project

So as I've mentioned before, I started my Final Major Project in November and I'm now over half way through, which is pretty scary to think that I'm so close to finishing College for good. I've based this project on birds and have called it "Come Fly With Me". I'll be printing final designs for interiors on both wallpaper lengths and furnishing fabric samples. I've already done some prints but I just seem to be doing a mix of everything at the minute. It'll be printing through the day and then back to development or even drawing for some inspiration when I'm not in College. So here are some of my birdy drawings to show you first.

Minor Project Work

In November I finished my minor project. I chose to base my it on boats and their accessories and named it "By the Beautiful Sea". I wanted to look at old boats and chains and tried to base my colour palette on rusty oranges and sea blues to make contrasting colours. Below are some of my drawings for the project.

I created wallpaper samples for the end product and it was my first time working with wallpaper so it took a bit of getting used to in order to get the prints looking the way that I wanted them to. Below are examples of some of my prints.
